YG Entertainment is holding a national audition tour to select new trainees to succeed Big Bang and BLACKPINK

YG Entertainment is searching for the next gems to follow in the footsteps of their hit groups, Big Bang and BLACKPINK.

On December 4, YG Entertainment announced that they will conduct a large-scale nationwide audition tour titled ‘2024 YG NATIONAL AUDITION TOUR‘ starting January 13, 2024.

The audition will travel through a total of 8 cities, beginning with Jeju on January 13, followed by Gwangju, Jeonju, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Wonju, and Seoul.

The audition process includes both pre-registration and on-site registration. For pre-registration, applicants can access the official poster’s QR code and submit the Google Form application form 10 days before the audition date in each region. On-site registration is available by visiting until 4 PM on the day of the audition.

The audition is open to youths residing in Korea, regardless of gender or nationality, born between 2006 and 2013. The four categories for application are singing, rapping, dancing, and visual. Detailed information about the audition can be found on the YG Audition website and social media.

Meanwhile, YG celebrated its 27th anniversary this year, having produced notable acts such as Big Bang, BLACKPINK, and more.

Netizens have been surprised by this sudden audition announcement since YG Entertainment launched a new girl group, BABYMONSTER, that debuted with “BATTER UP” last month.

They commented, “I thought this was BABYMONSTER’s promotion schedule,” “Are they not going to focus on BABYMONSTER?” “Didn’t YG do a survival program before and didn’t debut the group?” “Release the schedule for BABYMONSTER before anything,” “Please take care of BABYMONSTER first,” “Why are they doing a new audition?” “I thought YG was going to focus on BABYMONSTER?” “?” “What?” “Bring back Ahyeon,” and “They’re looking for more trainees? What about the group that just debuted?”
