‘The Glory’ cast members pay tribute to the late actress Park Ji Ah

The cast members of ‘The Glory‘ have paid tribute to actress Park Ji Ah, who tragically passed away while battling a cerebral infarction.

According to her agency, Billions, Park Ji Ah died at around 2:50 AM after her long battle with the condition. She was 52 years old.

Park Ji Ah was best known for her powerful performance in the Netflix series ‘The Glory’ (2022-2023), where she portrayed Jeong Mi Hee, the troubled mother of Moon Dong Eun, played by Song Hye Kyo.

As reported by OSEN, actress Song Hye Kyo sent a condolence wreath to express her sympathy. Fellow cast members Park Sung Hoon, Jung Sung Il, Kim Hieora, and Kim Gun Woo are expected to visit the wake to say their final goodbyes. Other actors from the series, including Lim Ji Yeon, Yeom Hye Ran, Cha Joo Young, and writer Kim Eun Sook, are also planning to pay their respects based on their schedules.

Park Ji Ah’s portrayal of Jeong Mi Hee, an alcoholic mother, earned her recognition as a scene-stealer in ‘The Glory.’ It was revealed that she joined the series at the recommendation of writer Kim Eun Sook. After filming, Park Ji Ah was deeply moved when Kim praised her performance, saying, “You really embodied the role of an alcoholic.”

Park Ji Ah studied at the Seoul Institute of the Arts and nurtured her acting career with the theater company Chaemoo.

She made her film debut in Kim Ki Duk’s 2002 movie ‘The Coast Guard‘ and gained further recognition for her roles as the ghost of Asako’s mother in ‘Epitaph‘ and the hospital director’s ghost in ‘Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.’ Her filmography includes a wide range of movies, such as ‘Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring,’ ‘3-Iron,’ ‘Masquerade,’ ‘The Tooth and the Nail,’ ‘Rampant,’ and ‘Hijacking,’ establishing her as a versatile and talented actress.

Earlier this year, she continued her career with a stage performance in the play ‘Wife‘ in February and attended the VIP premiere of the film ‘Wonderland‘ in May. Her sudden passing has left many in shock.

Park Ji Ah’s wake is being held in Room 2 of the funeral hall at Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 AM on October 2.
