“Parasite” Wins Best Picture + Best Screenplay At 2019 National Society Of Film Critics Awards – KpopHit

“Parasite” has become the first Korean movie ever to be named Best Picture by the National Society of Film Critics!

On January 4 local time, the American film critic organization convened in New York City to vote for its annual awards, which are considered one of the most prestigious film critic awards in the United States. Founded in 1966, the society consists of 60 prominent American film critics from cities all across the nation, each of whom was given the chance to vote for the awards using a weighted ballot system.

Once the votes were tallied, “Parasite” emerged triumphant as the winner of both the Best Picture and Best Screenplay awards (director Bong Joon Ho and Han Jin Won share screenwriting credits for the film).

After making history as the first Korean movie to win the Palme d’Or at the legendary Cannes Film Festival, “Parasite” also recently became the first Korean film ever to be nominated for three Golden Globe Awards. The movie is currently in the running for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Foreign Language Film, with the award ceremony scheduled to air on January 5 at 6 p.m. EST.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “Parasite”!
