“Isn’t it actually racist against Gwak Beom?”
Comedian Gwak Beom recently became a hot topic. He stared alongside comedian Eom Ji Yoon in a viral cover of “APT” where the duo bore a striking resemblance to BLACKPINK‘s Rosé and Bruno Mars.
Gwak Beom was initially questioned whether or not he darkened his skin color and did blackface makeup to mimic Bruno Mars.
However, in a conversation between comedians Kim Tae Gyun and Lee Chang Ho, they cleared up the issue. The duo explained that Gwak Beom’s skin color is unaltered in the video as he is naturally tan.
Kim Tae Gyun: There’s a question being raised about whether Kwak Beom painted himself like Bruno Mars.
Lee Chang Ho: What’s really funny is people are asking if it’s a sensitive issue, but we didn’t paint anything at all. In fact, his (skin tone) is even a bit darker than Bruno Mars’.
Netizens couldn’t help but laugh at the misunderstanding, immediately coming to his defense.
