After an intense competition resembling a reality show, HYBE and Geffen Records have unveiled the final members for their new project, The Debut: Dream Academy. The global competition saw 20 aspiring artists from different countries, including the United States, Thailand, the Philippines, and Brazil, competing to be in a new six-member girl group. Inspired by the Kpop training model, the show used fan votes and expert opinions to narrow the contestants to 10.
Over recent weeks, these talented young artists showcased their singing, dancing, and performance skills. In the grand finale held in Los Angeles, the final 10 were divided into three groups, each performing new songs. The combination of early and live votes, along with expert assessments, decided the final lineup.
The series finale, aired on HYBE’s YouTube channel, announced the group members: Daniela, Yoonchae, Lara, Sophia, Manon, and Megan. These members bring a mix of cultural backgrounds, representing the United States, South Korea, Switzerland, and the Philippines. The group’s name, KATSEYE, was also revealed during the announcement.
Meanwhile, Bang Si-hyuk, the Chairman of HYBE, expressed pride in this unique collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records. He praised the efforts of all the participants and conveyed high hopes for KATSEYE’s future, anticipating their global influence and success.

The group is now focusing on their upcoming album, set to release in 2024. Fans got a glimpse of their music with three songs performed in the finale, now available on YouTube.
Behind-the-Scenes Documentary
The creation and journey of KATSEYE will be showcased in a Netflix documentary series, expected to release in summer 2024. This documentary, directed by the Emmy-nominated Nadia Hallgren and produced in collaboration with HYBE, Interscope Films, and Boardwalk Pictures, will offer an inside look into the making of the group.
