When BTS debuted, RM was the group’s only English-speaker, but his members are becoming more fluent by the day!
On October 4, J-Hope and Becky G guested on 102.7 KIIS-FM to talk about their collaboration, “Chicken Noodle Soup”. This trilingual song mixes Korean, English, and Spanish lyrics to create a multi-cultural masterpiece.
Even though he was nervous, J-Hope answered each question entirely in English, blowing fans away with his improved skills.
I’m good, I’m good. I’m so nervous!
He started off by talking about how different it was to work on a project without his members, as well as his contributions to it.
Yes, very different. I was lonely, but I put in my ideas for the concept, music video, fashion, and so on. I have been working on this song for a long time, so I was excited that I finally got to release it. The members supported me, so I did my best.
“Becky was so nice,” J-Hope said, when asked about working with her. “We spoke different languages, but we communicated through music. And Becky’s Spanish rap was so awesome.”
He also talked about his personal ties to the original “Chicken Noodle Soup” song that inspired his smash hit 13 years later.
When I was young, my first dance class song was “Chicken Noodle Soup”. I really liked the song…Thank you for the inspiration, Webstar and Young B.
“I focused on showing my own swag and interpretation of the original song,” he said, when asked if his “Chicken Noodle Soup” had turned out as he’d hoped.
Even though the shoot was difficult, J-Hope enjoyed creating the music video with Becky G and their dancers.
Shooting together with Becky was the best part. It was so much fun dancing with the dancers, but the shoot was so intense. It was hot and I would die.
