The Hanteo real-time chart just shows how popular IU is in China with impressive first-day sales.
Two Chinese fan clubs ordered IU’s albums in bulk. One bought 50,516 copies in commemoration of IU’s birthday on May 16. The other bought 50,918 copies, to celebrate September 18, which is her debut date.
This means that upon the first day of the album’s physical release, “Love Poem” already sold over 100,000 copies.
People think IU’s large Chinese fanbase is due to dramas such as The Producers, Scarlet Heart Ryeo: Moon Lovers, and Hotel Del Luna.
