Singer HA:TFELT Yeeun‘s reply to a comment on his page has received much attention.

Yeeun’s comment read,

Do you know how pathetic your comment is? Sulli was not an immature person; she was an adult who wanted to stay true to her feelings and thoughts. The problem is not in whether or not the love between the two of them were true, but in the people who stereotyped their relationship by spitting out hateful words out of jealousy and obsession. Why do you think the hip-hop culture uses women as an accessory to their success? It’s because society sees women as being men’s accessories. Rather than looking at women as an independent individual, she is defined as someone’s woman, someone’s wife, someone’s mother. What about men. Men should have helped, men should have led the way, men should have said something. Should a woman’s choice be governed by a man? While freedom of speech is wonderful, there is a time and place for it. Write these types of comments in your diary or in a Kakao chat. Do not sprinkle salt on someone who is in pain beyond words. You do not deserve it.

The netizen comment that Yeeun replied to stated,

I hope you take something away from this. As if it’s not already enough for someone to show a 20 year old that dreams should come before love, why did you just watch as she quit her group and stopped all activities. They say that the final step of success for a hip-hop artist is to sleep with a young girl. While you were boasting about dating her on broadcasts, she was suffering from hate comments. Did you know that? I hope you realize that what you were doing was a love that was irresponsible. I hope that you are no longer a hero in the hip-hop world. I hope that that people in hip-hop no longer see women as an accessory to their success.

The two openly dated from 2014 until their break-up in 2017.

Sulli was found by her manager at her Seongnam house on October 14. Police later confirmed that Sulli had passed. Results from the autopsy revealed that there were no signs of homicide.
