Mnet’s “I Can See Your Voice” is continuing to go global!
“I Can See Your Voice” features contestants who perform songs, and the panelists have to guess which contestants are “good” singers who are singing live and which ones are “bad” singers who are lip syncing. Those who are predicted to be “bad” singers are eliminated, and they then proceed to show off their hidden vocal talents or give a poorly sounding but entertaining performance. The program premiered in 2015 and is currently airing its seventh season.
The popular show has already been remade in several countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Philippines, Romania, Slovakia, China, Vietnam, and Cambodia. “I Can See Your Voice” has seen exceptional success especially in Thailand, where it’s been airing since 2016, surpassing 200 episodes. In 2016, the Korean program was nominated for the “Best Non-Scripted Entertainment Program” category at the 44th International Emmy Awards.
FOX has completed producing the pilot episode of the American version of the program. The episode is hosted by Korean-American actor Ken Jeong. Lee Sun Young, the producer of “I Can See Your Voice,” has participated in the recordings for all of the program’s global spin-offs. After seeing the recording in the United States, where Ken Jeong was the host and Robin Thicke was the invited artist, she shared, “I can feel the global popularity of ‘I Can See Your Voice’ growing every year.”
The current season of Mnet’s “I Can See Your Voice” is hosted by Kim Jong Kook, Super Junior‘s Leeteuk, and Yoo Se Yoon and airs on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. KST.
