Korean netizens were shocked to see her changed face and even wondered if the use of a filter caused her change in appearance. Many noted that she looked different from her After School days, and even her official profile photo doesn’t look like the old her.

However, in May 2021, Lizzy caused controversy due to a drunk driving accident. She crashed into a taxi near Yeongdong Bridge in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu. At the time, her blood alcohol level was above the license revocation threshold (0.08% or higher). In October of the same year, she was fined 15 million won at her first trial.
