SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) — J-Hope, a member of the K-pop sensation BTS, is gracing the cover of Billboard’s May issue. Recognized for his dynamic talent as a dancer, rapper, and singer-songwriter, J-Hope is a standout figure in the group, captivating audiences with his magnetic stage presence and exceptional dance moves that have been pivotal in elevating BTS to global stardom.

According to BigHit Music, BTS’ agency, J-Hope becomes the second K-pop male solo artist to appear on the magazine’s cover, following the iconic Psy in 2012. This notable feature underscores the significant impact of K-pop on the global music scene, further establishing J-Hope’s role as a rising star in the industry.

BTS has previously adorned the cover of Billboard’s special issue in 2018 and the August 2021 issue, highlighting their ongoing influence and success in the music world.

In his inspiring cover story, J-Hope expressed, “Just as I drew inspiration from the artists I admired growing up, shaping my own music through their influence, I’d be honored if my work could inspire others and pass on that same positive energy — that would mean the world to me.” He hopes to continue evolving as an artist who brings light and encouragement to others wherever he goes.

April marked a significant milestone for J-Hope, as he became the first South Korean male solo artist to perform at a stadium in the United States during his inaugural solo world tour. Reflecting on this accomplishment, he shared, “Having performed at countless stadiums with BTS, I was always part of a seven-member team filling the stage. This time, I was on my own, and honestly, I wondered if I could handle that immense energy and pressure by myself. But I pulled it off, and that means a lot to me — it’s a milestone I’ll always cherish.”

J-Hope’s latest single, “Mona Lisa,” debuted at an impressive No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March, following his collaboration with Miguel on “Sweet Dreams,” released just two weeks prior. He shared that both tracks provide an easy connection for listeners while showcasing his evolving musical landscape, stating, “This is just the start — I have plenty more musical experiments in store.”

As part of his world tour, J-Hope is set to perform in Taipei this Saturday and Sunday, continuing to share his artistry with fans around the globe.
