Rose, a member of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, is gearing up for a solo act in the global music scene, signing a deal with the American record label, Atlantic Records.

The singer’s agency The Black Label announced her recent record deal with the global label, Friday, hinting at her upcoming act.

Atlantic Records, an umbrella label under Warner Music Group, is renowned for handling a wide variety of music, working with various world-class pop stars such as Bruno Mars, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran.

“There is high interest in what kind of synergy Rose, a globally beloved artist, will create from joining forces with Atlantic Records,” the agency said in the release.

The artist debuted as the main vocalist of BLACKPINK in 2016 with the album “SQUARE ONE.” The group, under K-pop powerhouse YG Entertainment, shot to stardom, garnering global attention. It has forged a record-breaking career with 12 Guinness World Records, releasing hit songs including “DDU-DU DDU-DU” (2018), “Kill This Love” (2019) and “How You Like That” (2020).

Rose began a solo career with the single “R” in 2021, becoming the group’s second member to go solo after Jennie. Its title track, “On The Ground,” saw a huge success, landing at the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 and at No. 70 on the Hot 100 charts, which set the new record as the highest rank on the chart among K-pop women solo artists at the time.

It also replaced the Guinness World Record for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours, which was later beaten out by BLACKPINK bandmate Lisa later that year.

The singer has not released additional solo albums since the debut single, but she signed a deal for solo activities with hip-hop agency The Black Label, founded by producer Teddy, in June while renewing the contract for BLACKPINK’s activities with YG Entertainment.

YG founder Yang Hyun-suk recently hinted at BLACKPINK’s comeback next year.
