Netizens see this as just a battle about money.
After NJZ (NewJeans) appealed the court’s ruling banning their independent activities in their dispute with ADOR, many former lawyers, chief justices, and judges joined both sides.
While the group has temporarily suspended all activities due to the dismissal of the injunction objection, there is speculation that the “battle of the century” will unfold as big-name lawyers will represent both sides.
According to the legal community, the NJZ injunction objection appeal was assigned to the 25th Civil Division of the Seoul High Court. For this appeal, NJZ has appointed Park Hyeong Nam, former head of the Judicial Policy Research Institute, along with its existing attorney, Sejong Law Firm.
ADOR also recently appointed former Constitutional Court Justice Kang Il Won, former Minister of Justice Cheon Jeong Bae’s daughter, Cheon Ji Seong, and former Supreme Court Chief Justice Hong Seung Myeon to its legal team.
The legal community is focused on whether the lawsuit’s outcome will be a turning point, as many big-name lawyers have joined the legal representatives of both parties.
However, netizens felt that this just looked like a huge battle for money.
- “Both sides must have a lot of money…”
- “It seems like the legal community is having a lot of fun out of this. The moment ADOR loses the lawsuit, contracts will have no meaning in this country…”
- “Talking about justice when the legal community is ignored is just comedy.”
- “This is just a battle about money…justice my a*s.”
- “What are they doing during a time when they should be promoting…”
- “If they win, a second NJZ will keep coming out and the entertainment industry will fall…no way the judge will let that happen…”
