aespa’s Fansign Event Called “A Scam” After Sudden Change In Rewards

Fans feel betrayed.

Girl group aespa has been long done with promotions for “Armageddon,” but some fans have yet to receive their support benefits. Winning fans who entered a raffle through album purchases in June 2024 were promised a fansign to be scheduled at a later date. Although it is already September 2024, it seems like they have been waiting for close to three months.

What made things worse was that on September 4, 2024, it was announced that the in-person fansign would be changed to a videocall fansign due to the girls’ busy schedules. A tweet on X by a bewildered fan soon went viral with over 400,000 hits.

Hello. This is Everline. This is about aespa’s in-person fansign event for Armageddon, with the raffle period dated June 7, 2024 to June 9, 2024. Due to unfortunate changes in the artists’ schedule, the in-person fansign will be changed to a videocall one. We are sorry to the fans who have been waiting a long time for the in-person fansign, and we hope that you offer deep understanding regarding the change in event format.

Netizens who heard about the situation were equally baffled by the sudden change. As an in-person fansign was originally promised before the fans entered the raffle, netizens called this a “scam” due to the change in promised rewards.

  • Shouldn’t they offer refunds?
  • Is this even possible? Crazy.
  • A scam.
  • What about a refund option?
  • Huh? Bullsh*t. Offer refunds.
  • Huh? They should give refunds.
  • In-person and videocalls are totally different things.

Currently, a refund option has not yet been made available through the retailer Everline. SM Entertainment has neither given any separate statement.
